Estimate Disclaimer

Last updated June 25, 2026

BFF helps you spot broken and "for parts" listings that may be worth flipping. The numbers we show are estimates to help you decide, not guarantees. Here is exactly what they mean.

Working value

The "working value" is the median price of active working-condition listings for a similar item. It is an estimate of what a repaired unit might resell for. It is based on what is currently listed, not on completed sales, and actual resale prices vary.

Margin

The margin is simply the working value minus the as-is (broken) price. It does not account for repair parts, your time, shipping, fees, or taxes. The spread you actually keep will be lower.

Faults and repair costs

Where a seller describes the problem, we show their words. Where they do not, we list the common failures for that kind of item along with rough parts-cost ranges. These are general estimates, not a diagnosis of the specific unit, and the seller has not confirmed them.

Do your own diligence

Always read the full listing, study the photos, check the seller, and research the model before buying. Broken items carry real risk, repair outcomes are not guaranteed, and final resale prices change. BFF is not responsible for any purchase decision you make.
