I built BFF to do the boring part for you. It pulls every for-parts and not-working listing off eBay, works out the spread between the as-is price and what a working one goes for, names the likely fault, and prices the repair, so you can see the money left after the fix before you buy.

Not every broken listing is worth your time. Water damage, dead boards and iCloud locks are traps, so BFF flags them. What's left are the ones with a real margin and a fix you can actually do.
